Christmas Party

The hall looked really festive as we arrived to the sound of Christmas music, a welcome drink and some lovely smells from the kitchen.

Sue Dixon received special birthday wishes and flowers from Mary followed by a very short business meeting.
We then enjoyed a wonderful buffet (thanks to Pat Henderson and Pam Barraclough) and some fantastic music from Holy Trinity's hand-Bell Ringers.

Happy 70th Birthday Sue

Federation Carol Concert

Despite the ice and snow Mary, Peggy, Ann and Jayne travelled in to Sheffield's Victoria Hall Methodist Church for this years Federation Carol Service.

After a leisurely lunch and a quick look at the shops we were soon meeting friends from other WI groups as we enjoyed a really lovely mixture of carols and readings.

                                                                         Cheers!

Well done to the ladies from Sprotbrough WI as they entertained us with a nice Christmas medley.

Well done to the Federation Leisure Committee for their hard work in organising the service as well as organist Robert Webb for playing superbly.

The service certainly put us in the mood for Wednesday's Christmas Party.

Ten-Pin Bowling

Another good afternoon of fun as the WI ladies notched up a good victory against Holy Trinity's Friday Club.  Well done to Julia who finished the individual winner as well.

The History Wardrobe

Members along with others from the Rockley Group enjoyed a very interesting and informative presentation by Historian Lucy Adlington in Hoyland, all about clothing in the 1940's.
This included the wartime attitude of 'make-do-and-mend' , clothes ratings as well as home dressmaking.

The talk was an introduction to her new novel 'Red Ribbon' which is about a young seamstress in a German Concentration Camp in occupied Poland.  This was followed by an 'obligatory' WI Cream Tea!  Cheers!
